Now Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
In 2011 our then three year old daughter surprised us with an extra prayer as we were leaving her room, “Dear God, please please me with a wonderful baby brother named Isaac”. We were not ready to have another baby, having a 3 year old and a 1 year old we felt quite content for the time, and we told our daughter so. Weeks later, we would learn Megan was in fact pregnant with our third child.
Four months later, as the ultra-sonographer excitedly “informed” us we were expecting a boy, our daughter, full of the confidence and assurance of faith her prayer had been answered, told her “We know, his name is Isaac”. We worship a big God who can answer big prayers. It has become easy for adults to dismiss the seemingly simple prayers of children, but as we are instructed in Matthew 18:2 there is much to about their humble faith we can learn from.
