Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for the conviction of things not seen. This is not a definition of faith but a description of what faith does and how it works. Faith is the actual believing of God’s Word to be true and acting upon it. It operates this way. God speaks and we hear His Word. We trust His Word and act on it no matter what the circumstances are or what the consequences may be. We obey God’s word and believe Him to do what is right and what is best.
In Hebrews 11, we see the summary of the lives and labor of great men & women of faith. Men & women when they stepped out in faith that God was with them. One of the promises of God is that He will never leave us or forsake us. These people of faith God spoke to them through His Word , they were all stirred in different ways, they obeyed God, God bore witness to all of them.
I think about sacrificial giving and sacrifice means to give up something of value for the sake of something of greater value. Instead of calling this sacrificial giving perhaps we can call it giving by faith. Faith that God will meet the needs of His people & of His church . Faith even though it does not compute on paper. As for all the great men & women of faith that went before us . The reality of faith and the pleasure of seeing God show up. God who is faithful will show us the true knowledge that Our God is our provider.
We as God’s people have an opportunity to come alongside this journey of faith and be part of something greater than we can ever imagine. This is ultimately about others. Jesus was always about others. The Capital Campaign that we as a church are about to take on, will require each and everyone of us to step out in faith & believe. Without faith it is impossible to please God.
