According to the dictionary the definition of faith is: complete trust or confidence in someone or something or the strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof.
The Bible tells us in Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” Throughout the Old Testament we see a long list of people who were obedient to God and did what God asked of them. They took each step without knowing God’s larger plan and how their role would fit into it. We can take many of these situations and look at how God used unlikely people and unlikely situations.
How many of us would be like Abraham and sacrifice our child, all the while, believing that God had the power to raise him from death?
Why was Moses saved when he was a baby? No one could have known the events that were going to take place and the role Moses would play with the Israelites.
Why would God use someone like Rahab to save the spies? She had no idea that later, God would bless her and that her family would be part of the linage of Jesus Christ.
When we study these Old Testament Scriptures and then we look at our lives, how much faith do we have?
Matthew 17:20 says, “He replied, "Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."
Do we believe that God is the Alpha and Omega? Do we believe that He is the same today as He was in the Old Testament? Do we believe that He is: the Creator of the universe, The Divider of the Red Sea, the Power to walk on water, the Ability to protect from fire, the Tamer of the lion, the Slayer of the giant? If the answer is yes, then do you believe that God is capable in your life to do big things; unthinkable things? Are you willing to allow God to use you to do His work like He did in the New Testament with Paul? Do you have complete trust and confidence that God has got you, He knows better than you, and all we need to do is say yes and be willing to take the next step?
How awesome would it be to be a part of God’s greater plan! Just say yes!
